Principal's Message

With the launch of a new school year, the faculty of Long Neck Elementary welcomes all students and families back to school for another fantastic year. As we embark on another educational journey, we must be reminded of the mission Long Neck Elementary has determined to be the goal of your child’s educational experience.

“Long Neck Elementary is a community that inspires a passion for learning.”

In order to achieve this goal, teachers and staff consistently encourage our students to reach his or her full potential in order to become lifelong learners. Students are rewarded for their hard work with certificates for Student of the Month; they receive PBS S.T.A.R. bucks where they can win a variety of prizes throughout the year; and are rewarded in individual classrooms by their teachers. These means of encouragement do not only come from the school, but come from home as well. Without the constant support of families and community members, these achievements could not be reached.

The numerous awards Long Neck Elementary has received such as National Blue Ribbon School, Academic Excellence, Superior School ratings for over 9 years, as well as being a Nationally Distinguished Title I school would not have occurred without the dedication of students, staff, families, and community members. Despite these prestigious accolades, the school personnel and children maintain their dedication and drive to keep improving. We don’t settle and maintain the status quo, but instead continue to greet each year as a new challenge to continue that climb whereby all of our students achieve their best.

To continue our climb to the top, the Long Neck staff encourages each family to remain actively involved in their child’s academic progress and success. Our PTO is second to none! They work tirelessly to promote our school and your children. We would love to have every family join us for our monthly meetings, which are listed on the district calendar. The PTO is a great means to become more involved at school as well as support your child. In addition to the PTO, our community mentors are an integral part of our school’s success. As these mentors volunteer their time to spend working with your children academically as well as socially, the joy and encouragement students receive from these experiences are irreplaceable. If you are interested in being a school-based mentor, please contact our mentor coordinator, Mrs. Boyette at 302-945-6200.

On behalf of the entire staff of Long Neck Elementary, welcome to another great year and we look forward to working with your child daily as we anticipate another “superior” year. We thank you for allowing us the opportunity to inspire your children towards a great future!

Sincerely,

Neil Beahan, Principal
