Positive Behavior Support (PBS)

Long Neck Elementary is a Positive Behavior Support (PBS) school.  PBS is a collaborative project with the Delaware Department of Education.  The vision of Delaware PBS is to promote positive student behaviors, and the social-emotional and academic development of all children.  Throughout the school year our staff will model and discuss S.T.A.R. student behavior. During the first week of school your child will learn the positive S.T.A.R. behaviors, pledge as well as school and bus expectations.  Long Neck Elementary has various activities to reinforce and celebrate S.T.A.R. behavior throughout the year.  Each student will receive Star bucks for illustrating positive S.T.A.R. behaviors.  Students will be able to use these bucks to participate in PBS incentives and purchase items at the S.T.A.R. store. Additionally, all students will participate in quarterly assemblies to encourage to PBS message. After each quarterly PBS event, the students remaining STAR bucks may not be used for future PBS incentives.  The students may use those STAR bucks for the school store and grade level incentives set by their teachers. Throughout the school year, your child will have the chance to earn various incentives for displaying positive behavior and academic success.  Students may earn, Student of the Month, Specials Class of the Month, and a Positive Shinning Knight Referrals for displaying S.T.A.R. behavior.
