LNE Principal’s Bio

Hello Long Neck Families! My name is Kathleen Wilson.  I have had the pleasure of being in education for over 20 years. I have experience teaching third, fifth, and first grades. Early in my teaching career, my husband’s Air Force career took our family to California. I became a school administrator while there.  I have been a Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and a Principal before returning to Delaware in 2018. Upon my return to Delaware, I served as the Assistant Principal at SDSA and now I have the privilege to serve the Long Neck Elementary community! I am very privileged to be the Principal at LNE and I look forward to meeting everyone and working with this amazing staff and the students and families of the Long Neck community.

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year here at Long Neck Elementary School!  For those of you I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is Kathleen Wilson, I will be your principal.  I look forward to working with you this coming year and building on what is already a great school with an excellent faculty and staff. 

 

We have many new faces, both students and staff. With that said, we have also adopted a new ELA curriculum. It is called Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA). It is grounded in science and it promises to bring our students to a new level of academic understanding. I am confident that this will be an amazing year for all involved. I want to share with you all the expectations we have for students at LNE. We expect our students to be safe, respectful, responsible, successful, and to show integrity. We truly believe that all students can meet these expectations and that by doing so, will experience great success as leaders of Long Neck. 

 

As demands and complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes more evident that we all need to work together to ensure that our children reach their highest potential.  I believe that all of us – the school and the community – must work together in an extended family environment to ensure success for all our students.  I believe it is everyone’s responsibility to empower children with the creative, intellectual, and decision-making skills necessary for them to become academically, socially, physically, and emotionally successful and responsible leaders in our community.
